How it works
Last updated
HeadshotForge turns one to four ordinary selfies into professional-looking headshots. You upload your photos, choose a style and a layout, pay once, and download the results within minutes. This page explains each step, what makes a usable selfie, and what to do if a result misses the mark.
The four steps
- Upload one to four selfies — Choose photos of yourself taken in clear, even light. A single photo can work, but more than one angle gives the process more to draw on. Uploads are deleted after seven days.
- Choose a style and a layout — Pick the look you want. A style sets the lighting, wardrobe and background; a layout sets the crop and framing. Every layout offered for that style is included in your pack.
- Pay once — Checkout is a single one-time payment. There is no subscription, no credit balance and no renewal. The pack you choose decides how many headshots you receive.
- Download your headshots — Results are ready in minutes. Take each image on its own, or download the whole set at once. Files are delivered at 2K resolution.
What makes a good selfie
The selfies decide most of the outcome. A clear photo in soft light gives the process something solid to work with.
- Take the photo in soft, even light. A window in daylight usually beats a ceiling lamp.
- Face the camera with one clear, unobstructed view of your whole face.
- Avoid heavy filters, beauty modes and strong colour grading.
- Send more than one angle if you can. A straight-on photo plus a slight turn works well.
- Keep your expression natural and your mouth closed.
- Leave off sunglasses, hats and anything that hides your eyes or hairline.
- Watch for harsh shadows across the face, especially from a phone held too close.
- Use a recent photo that still looks like you today.
How styles and layouts are chosen
A style sets the lighting, the wardrobe and the background. A corporate style keeps a plain studio backdrop and business dress. Other styles move the same face into warmer or more informal settings. You choose the style before checkout, and every layout offered for it is part of your pack.
A layout sets the crop. A square frame suits a profile photo, a wider frame suits a banner, and a tight head-and-shoulders crop suits a directory listing. The pack decides how many headshots you receive.
What the process changes, and what it preserves
The process changes lighting, framing, background and wardrobe. It does not change your face. Your features, your skin and your identity stay as they are in the photos you upload.
That limit is deliberate. A headshot that no longer looks like the person is no use on a profile or a CV.

How your results arrive
Generation starts after checkout and most orders finish within minutes. You can download each image on its own, or take the whole set at once.
Your uploads are not kept indefinitely. They are deleted from storage seven days after you send them.
If a result misses the mark
Look at the selfies first. A photo with flat light, a heavy filter or a partial view of the face gives the process less to work with. Swapping one weak photo often improves the whole set.
If the headshots are still not what you expected, write to us and we will refund the order in full. The process is described in the Terms of Service.
Frequently asked questions
- How many selfies should I upload?
- One is enough to start, and the supported range is one to four. Two or three photos from slightly different angles usually give a more consistent set than a single image.
- Do I need a professional camera?
- No. A recent phone photo taken in good daylight works. What matters is that the light is even and that your whole face is clearly visible.
- What if the headshots do not look like me?
- That usually points back to the selfies. Send replacements and generate again. If the set still misses, contact us and we will refund the order.
- Will my photos be used to train models?
- No. Your uploads are never used to train models, and they are deleted from storage after seven days.
- Can I use the headshots on a work profile?
- Yes. You can use them on profiles, CVs and company pages. Every image is labelled AI-generated, and the Terms of Service set out the licence in full.
